Earlier tonight, I was dropping off a friend and tried to park my 2005 Toyota Camry at the parking spot of her house. Her house is on a hill slope. As i was turning into the spot the car's under carriage got srcatched/hit. After realizing the car's under carriage is being scratched I backed out and park on the street.

The car's under carriage seems fine. But I'm a little paranoid about what happened. The car drives fine. After i came home i checked under the car and nothing seems to be scratched but it was evident from the sound earlier the car's bottom felt like it was on a speed bump and scratching against it.

Is there any major damage to it? Should I take it to a Toyota Service Center to have them check it out? I checked and it seems unscathed the bottom, and I drove 15 miles back home after dropping her off and the car runs fine.

Thanks for any suggestions.

without being there to gauge just how hard you hit it's hard to judge but by going by what you've said it does sound minor. Toyota's have plastic shields underneath to keep debri from getting up into the engine and sounds real bad when you catch one a speed bump or curb. Just for the fact that it runs, drives & steers ok with no new vibrations or fluid leaks makes it seem minor.....

Peace of mind is something you want also, just so you can "trust" your ride..... I'd hate to see you go out and spend unnecessary money on an inspection that will probably just reveal a few new scatchs on a shield. If there are any services due, oil change, coolant flush, etc.... Get that done and ask the tech to take a quick peak underneath and maybe let you see also.... Then you're good to go and your friend now owes you dinner.......

it's not the front but right under the seats, the middle section between back and front wheels.

but thanks for the reply.

Even better. There is really nothing in that area at all & what few lines there are if you hit hard enough to get to those lines your car would've had to gone home on the back of a tow truck.....

I would still have the tech take a peek on the next service for piece of mind but now your friend is off the hook for dinner Wink
