In December my husband bought me a radio for this car and had it installed at best buys. In March after a 6 hr trip the car wouldn't start my father being an old school mechanic got me a new alternator replacing the old one and back on the road I went. Several weeks later the car quit again an my mechanic told me the new alternator was not good and got me another one claiming it was higher end model. now its july and the car quit again. This time my mechanic said it was their fault they should have used a Kia product and replaced it for the 3rd time when the new one was put in I noticed that when the headlights where on the clock light would dim and I had no taillights. When I took it back to the mechanic he said that was normal for the clock and I had the wrong bulbs in the taillights which he fixed. But less than 2 days of driving it when headlights are on its still pulling so much juice that the car almost quit b4 I got home. What is my mechanic missing. What could be causing this car to ruin so many alternators each one faster than the last? My Mechanic is great normally and has tried to fix it. Its a 2.0 Kia spectrum with 116000 miles and the only other thing I have ever had to replace is a module for the power windows but that was more than a year ago.
