Hi,

Car Description:
2004, Vauxhall Corsa, 1.3 Diesel (CDTi), 25,000 Miles.
Fully serviced last month which has made no difference. Included air, oil and fuel filter and all the rest of it.

I am having a few issues with my Corsa. I bought it about 6 months ago with only 20k miles. I had no issues with it whatsoever, however since approximately 3 months ago it's been struggling to start but always does at second attempt, and I am getting a strange "coughing" or "spluttering" when I tickle the accelerator (only when I am at a constant speed), it's as though there's air in the system or something.

I know enough to get me by and can do basic repairs etc, but I am no experienced mechanic!

Could someone tell me if this sounds like a misfire or if they have the same problem?

All help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Ade

(Quote) and I am getting a strange "coughing" or "spluttering" when I tickle the accelerator.

Wouldn’t hurt to rule out vacuum leaks or cylinder misfires, but your above quotes are indicating a vehicle that is starving for fuel. Since its a diesel begin by confirming the “Sock Screen” at the fuel pump is not collapsed or clogged. If either change it. After that post the “Static” fuel pressure psi values. This must be done with a pressure gauge. Static means ignition key on and engine off. If all is well the fuel pressure should come up quickly and hold at a fixed value. Post what that value is.
