2004 Ford Explorer Sign In

My 2004 Ford Explorer (6 cyl, 4WD, Auto, (NOT AWD)) on the highway when I get to about 65 - 70 MPH and let off the accelerator seems to be grabbing somewhere in the front end. When I step back on the accelerator it stops, let off it gabs again. As I slow down I begin to hear a thump, thump, thump, thump...... and then all of the sudden it stops. Additionally it only does all of this on and off (though more on, than off) and sometimes doesn't do the thumping. All the lugs are tight, brake oil is fine. My initial guess is that the ABS is doing something. Any thoughts?
