I have a 2004 dodge durango that will not idle. It starts barely if you hold the gas pedal down, but you have to hold it down and work the peddle to keep the rpm's above 2500. Dealer says that there is a problem with the valve train.Maybe a broken spring or retainer. Performed a compression test and all cylinders above 125 psi.Suspect the electronic throttle.Hope someone has ran into this.

Doesn't sound like a valve problem to me. Having to keep the throttle opened sounds like an over-fueling issue. Look and listen for a major vacuum leak. Did this start, all of a sudden? Loren SW Washington

Checked for vacuum leak with smoke machine. Found upper intake leaking at #7 runner. Performed fuel system test-58psi at idle. Supposed to be 60. Replaced the seals on intake and re-tested with smoke. No leaks.Checked all 16 plugs when we did the compression test and the plugs were fouled. We replaced all .Computer scanned with Modus-random cylinder missfire. Engine is a 5.7 ltr. hemi.

Well, it's obviously over-fueling, then. Check MAP, CTS, and O2 readings w/Modus. Loren SW Washington

Factory spec for fuel press is 60 psi at idle plus or minus 2 psi. Fuel press is in spec. Adaptives are at limit, showing lean.

Injector pulse high? What are you seeing CTS vs. ambient temp? Any codes coming back? Are you seeing O2 crosscounts normal? Loren SW Washington

I worked on this vehicle before Christmas. I will check pulse width and coolant temp sensor. O2 sensors were all working, but i don't remember on the cross counts. I did check exhaust backpressure and it is not restricted.
