2004 Chevy Trailblazer stuck in park

Hi, a friend of mine is stuck in a parking lot right now. Her trailblazer's gear shift will not come out of park. Is there a simple solution I could give her to try?

For right now see if the brake lights work and if not check the fuse and replace if needed. If not the fuse and lights don't work the switch at the brake pedal or the actuator for the Park Lock isn't funtioning or wiring to it failed??
