2003 mondeo 2ltr tdi wheezes when changing gear Sign In

Only just started doing it yesterday, its when i press the clutch pedal in to change gear a strange wheezing noise comes from the car...also noticed i had too much brake and clutch fluid in the reservoir after recently having my brakes done, dont suppose this has anything to do with it? Car has 119,000 on the clock.
thank you, John.

Will this noise do it with vehicle sitting still and pushing the clutch? -- T

No its only when i change gear...Also i have noticed over the months i have a rattling of what sounds like belts under the clutch pedal when in neutral, but the wheezing sound when changing gear only started yesterday.

I'm a little bit lost to help much with a noise such as this. There's so much going on it's just a tough call. Ordinarily I would stay the throw out bearing but that should make noise sitting still.

This is how much junk is in just the trans...........

Primal parts to a clutch...........

"Release Bearing" is also known as a throw out bearing.

I'm somewhat leaning to a bearing of an output shaft as this apparently requires moving along but that is some wild guess. It happened all at once too.

This really needs to be witnessed and inspected by a transmission tech IMO. Probably not a cheap fix.

I tend to doubt that the clutch master cylinder being too full is causing a noise? Use a new turkey baster to correct that level anyway and throw it out! never use for food anything ever again!

Not a trans specialist myself. Know that most take that on separately as it take yet another zillion tools and right working area. Just a clutch most would do.

Any tech should have studied clutch and trans work in a training program and should have a clue.

I'll leaving up to you if you should even drive this anymore. In the trans game you will frequently find a redo will be suggested as most wouldn't want to take things all apart and not do the whole job as it's greatly labor.

Best I can do for you. I can't think of anything that having brake work would cause this but I'm guessing from the start with this?

Good luck - hope this is something that doesn't require an overhaul,

Tom

Thanks for the reply Tom, sounds like it could be like finding a needle in a heystack.

Again - someone has to hear and feel it. It could be something silly or not and nothing common to me. The hard stuff is when you you let someone drive and hear it is when it decided not to do it. This is doing something not right and will be found,

Tom
