Ok my wife has a 2003 impala and it has started making a popping sound. This is not the CV shafts i dont think. The sound is only when you take off or stop quickly, the sound only happens occasionally. And it is only one time the sound happens like a quick POP.

Does it seem to be coming from the front of the vehicle or the rear?..

There was a TSB for the steering shaft connector on these vehicles also. I don't have it in front of me, but if you can feel it in steering, it is probably the coupler.

A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin the repair facilities can use to streamline a diagnosis and repair. Unfortunately, it is a customer pay process. You can call your local dealer with your VIN and they can see if it affects your vehicle. The VIN is the 17 digit number that is assigned to your vehicle. It can be found just in front of the driver on the bottom area of the windshield. You will see it down inside a small cut out portion of the dash. It is also located on the door jamb on a placquard there. it will start with numbers like this---1GNDT13W7Y------ or maybe 2GNDT13W7Y------
