Hi car people!

I wanted to preface this post by saying that I understand this could be a multitude of issues, and it might be difficult to diagnose. I am going to attempt to run to the auto store today and get some parts to try and replace, but in essence- my car is cranking but not turning over.

This started about 24 hours after I had not driven the car for about 6 months (I had another car that I was driving. I did not even start this Toyota during that time- stupid, I know.) For the first 24 hours, when I was driving it, it seemed... Fine. I guess it was a little stuttery, but I figured that was just because I hadn't driven it in a while. Then, I was on the highway the next day and the car started to rumble and shake. After about thirty seconds of that, the power steering shut off and the car turned off about 3 seconds after. I had it towed to a friend's house.

So, we started to try and diagnose the issue from that point. One thing that we noticed right away upon inspection was that the oil was essentially bone dry. I do not think there was anything on the dipstick whatsoever. The coolant seemed low as well, but not bone dry. I replaced the oil, filling it completely, as well as the coolant. Still, it did not start. The issue was deeper than that, it seemed.

I borrowed my dad's code reader and got the following issues:
P0115 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

At that point, I decided to check the spark plug wells, because I have no idea what I am doing. The spark plugs looked visually okay, though they were hard to see. There was a slight amount of oil in the wells which I read could be an issue.

I am not car-savvy whatsoever but I am trying my best to diagnose the issue. I took a video of the car attempting to start, which you can see here: https://imgur.com/a/92Y35Pp

I read that after sitting around awhile, it could be that the battery is slightly too low charged to actually start the car. I thought, what the heck, let's try to start it while it's connected to another car battery. Here is a video of that: https://imgur.com/a/bBKiRSE It seems like the car is trying a little harder to start, it does sound slightly different to me, though I am no expert. (Note: The high-pitched screeching in that video is my friend's car.)

As of now, the oil light and check engine light are both on. They stay on even after I initially put the key in the ignition.
I suppose I am just wondering where to start- if anyone has any ideas. I do not know a lot about cars, at all, but I have never heard this sound before.

If I left out any pertinent information or if anyone needs more details, please let me know below. I am determined to figure this out! And thanks so much for any advice and guidance.

P.S. Car has about 250k miles but ran perfectly before these 6 months.

That engine has no compression. Driving with out oil probably did it in.
There is an outside chance you "washed down" your cylinder walls, but that is doubtful.
Go rent a compresson gauge from one of the parts strores and do a dry & then wet test. You will probably get close to zero on the dry test. When you squirt a bit of oil in the cyls for the wet test, if this brings the reading way up, then you have a chance. If it is still in the low range (and it probably will be) then you are done. The engine is toasts.

There are no live links allowed, but I'll leave it there for a bit for some of the other guys to listen to.

Sat 6 months, oil warnings and you drove it. If they went right away when started maybe low but seems like too low to survive this! Yup.

Engine time but verify it. Where did the oil go? Is there still a mess under where it was parked?

Enough miles on this car can be OK with extra care.

Videos are fine or images if yours as you said we've heard struggling engines it cranks and doesn't run now it would flutter or no crank if other issues.

Again, verify compression as Sidom said dry cylinder walls/bearing doesn't take much to kill an engine,

Tom

The links are fine if they are your own videos.

You didn't mention how much oil or coolant it took to bring it up to full.

If it was just a quart or 2, that likely didn't do any damage. Another real possibility is a broken timing belt.
Unfortunately this is one of the few Toyota engines that is an interference engine meaning if the timing belt did break it likely did severe damage to the valves and pistons.

Either the run out if oil or timing belt scenarios are both pretty much fatal to the engine.
