2003 GMC Envoy - Air condition stop cooling every two weeks or so. When working it is very cool air, but once in a while it just goes hot. Compress and other mechanical parts seem to be working fine until it goes on the blink for an hour or two.
Any ideas on what to check? From my research this seems to be a common problem but I can't find what the fix is.

Moved the post but you should find it. The key to A/C diagnostics is the pressures which will require a set of gauges also called a manifold set.

What I read in your post sounds like a frozen/iced up evaportor almost always caused by low refrigerant and can even reduce air flow. Look for frosted hoses and anythings near where A/C hoses go into the distribution box or firewall. Others may disagree but to me that problem is NOT normal. ....(any warranty on this veh?)

It's a big buck biz and sometimes it's a five cent O ring that caused a leak but the equipment and know how to find it is expensive and then the repair if that's it, T
