My Ford Windstar (3.8 Engine Size and with 93 thousand miles) has an issue, whenever I try to start it up it sputters then dies, at first I assumed it was a due to a low battery so I charged it but when it was fully charged it the issue still persisted, but the last two times I tried starting it it would sputter again, but then run normally, but the last time I tried it would stay on but would not stop sputtering. I haven't turned it on again over fear of further damaging the car. It currently has a quarter gallon of gas and was working just fine the day before this issue came up.
I looked up the potential cause and it could be related to the fuel parts like the fuel filter, I've also talked it with someone any they said it could need new spark plugs or something as simple as a gas treatment. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could help me pinpoint the specific cause.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. What you need to do is hook up a fuel pressure gauge before starting the engine and watch what the pressure does as you try to start it. It's supposed to immediately snap up to the specified pressure which for that engine is
Engine running fuel pressure .................... 210-310 kPa (28-45 psi)
Key on, engine off fuel pressure .................... 240-310 kPa (35-45 psi)
