2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder; 4 Cyl, 2.4 ltr. 97,000 miles, 5 sp.manual trans

Unsure Last week, car just wouldnt turn over. No clicks, nothing. Never had ANY problems, never was slow dragging when turned over before. Had battery replaced, still won't turn over. If I get it jumped, (i was stranded) it runs fine all the way home. No warning lights appear for battery or alternator. Would not take a charge, though, and slow jump. Someone told me its the starter because the battery is brand new, bought yesterday. The thing is, on other vehicles I've owned, the starter goes out after at least a couple times of trouble. ?
Can the starter just go out like this with no prior problems? Fuses all seem fine. Is there a certain fuse I should check? Yes, guys, I do push in the clutch on start. Sly I just don't want to pay for a starter to be put on and then find out that its a simpler problem.
Also, POI, I had an Expedition that had the battery run down. I just put another one on, not knowing anything about the reset switch for the trans. Does this model Eclipse have one of those, too that the tech who put the battery on did not know about? He did NOT keep my car plugged to anything, just removed the battery. The trouble started after my battery got run down last week. Just coincidence usually doesnt happen. Please help. I need it for school. Thanks so much!!!Crazy

You don't have a starter problem.

You have a low voltage issue with the battery. It could be the battery itself or one of the cable connections but if it starts with a jump start, it can be nothing else.

Well, thats what i thought, but I got argued with. It just doesnt make sense. So, with a new battery, I checked all the fuses that i know of, they look fine. There are fuses in big gray boxes that I dont know what they go to and are not mapped, so i left those alone. However, so...if i go get a voltage meter or have someone test it, will that pinpoint the problem? I checked the connections...they are all tight.

Look, when you jump the car, the only thing you are doing is adding more current to the battery and if that starts the car, then you didn't have enough to start with.
