2003 Crown Vic LX Police P71 Charging Issues Sign In

The car had a dead battery and bad fuel pump when I purchased it. It had been sitting for 9 months. A new FP and battery and it cranked right up. However, the alternator is not charging. The battery light comes and goes, but it is not charging whether the light is on or off. I have read previous posts about CV charging issues and checked pretty much everything. All fuses are good, replaced the alternator and ignition switch (electrical part). The belt was new and is tight, no tensioner issues. There is power (12V) everywhere it is supposed to be, plug connectors, red wire on top of the alt, but still only getting 12.7 at the battery. My next planned step is to replace the PCM. Any other suggestions? Thanks

What brand alternator did you put on? There has been a rash of remans computer controlled alternators with the wrong regulators installed.

OE# 3W1Z10V346AARM 130 amp alternator is the part number for the interceptors. There are also some running around with the upgraded 200 amp alternators.
