02 Taurus xl 3L 24 valve, 94,000 miles. 4garages are stumped on this. Check engine light will not stay off. I have had replaced the DPFE sensor, VAC regulator selenoid replaced. Carran fine for about 50 miles. Light came back on, and this time would buck and run ruff when pulling a grade. Mechanic said cylinder 1 was miss firing. Replaced ball pack for that cylinder and all spark plugs wires and fule pump. Reset system light, it ran good for 20 miles, now light is back on and running even worse than ever. Now noticing alot of power loss. It is running very ruff when ideling. All the mechanics have named it the car from he**, and cant seem to figure it out, beside it allways seams to be connected to cylinder 1. Anyone out there ever had this problem, or any ideas, please help.

Are you getting any more info than problem with cyl #1?

Probably time to do a real compression test,

Has anyone checked the injector? If the injector is bad, no fuel will go to the cylinder and there will be a misfire.

Sorry it has been so long, BUT,,, there has been no inprovement so far. Have the coil pack replaced, and the wires again,. (no inprovement) The codes that are now showing are 302 316. There are no wet plugs. (someone please still this car!!!!)

Are the plug wires still original on this car? Has the coil been replaced?

As Tom mentioned, have you had a compression test done? It is a long----long-----long shot, but possibly the crank or cam sensor might cause the problem. I would have the compression test done first. Oh, BTW, your car is too far away for me to come steal a Ford.

This is just a wild guess, but have you checked the injector harness and resistance across #2 injector? (P0302)
Has the EGR passageway been verified as being clean?

If I'm following this right, the miss started in cyl #1 and now we are seeing it in #2 and #6?

The problem always seems to be just cylender 1. and yes there was a compression test done an it seems to be fine.

These codes are not for cyl#1
I think you should clear the codes and see what consistently resets.

Re: 2002 Taurus check engine light ALWAYS ON Sign In

Well still no improvement. Took it back to where it was purchased from, and their mechanic said that the wires were not ford wires, there after market, and they were crossed and being pinched under the intake manifold, and the code its now showing is PO3300 (maulltabe miss fires) took it back to my mechanic for him to check and no wires are pinched or crossed and he got the same code. He reset it and the engine light comes right back on.
