In Reply To
1st reply by Hammer Time suggested this could lead to a compression test haven't heard a word from you about that.

I pondered about it for a couple of hours and I think I did not do it because the crank was not turning.

In Reply To
That's what it takes. If you can't do that we are wasting time,
Tom

I warmly suggest you stop wasting your time. I am sure there is plenty of kind and wise users on this forum who would be willing to help and that could actually come out with a useful advice.

Wish it was just working out for you - really. It isn't so you have to go back and found out where it went wrong that a running vehicle isn't now. Stuff happens, perhaps another set of eyes right there would help? There are limits to what a web site can do vs being right there something obvious might stare right at you why this isn't working out and what to do about it,

Tom

Let's get a little more clear about the symptoms.

Is the car cranking over with the starter?

If not, what exactly is it doing?

Sorry for the late reply I am a bit busy at work. I will try to put together a couple of pictures and a list of all the things I have done as soon as possible, thank you for your help in advance.

I didn't ask what you have done. I asked what the car is doing right now.

At the moment it is cranking but not starting...I checked the plugs and they are correct. I took a short video, but I am struggling to upload it...

OK, if it cranking and not starting. This is what you need to do.

All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment.
If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money.

Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for.

These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.

2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.

3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.

4) If all of these things check good, then you would need to do a complete compression test.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

I put everything back together and managed to start the car. There are however a couple of issues:

1) The car cranks forever before it starts (engine makes weird noise while running as well)

2) the emission light is on

3)I got an error from ECU: P0303 cylinder 3 misfiring.

I am not too sure what would be the best course of action, if you have any suggestion please let me know.

Kind regards,

Matteo

I have only one suggestion.............

Take it to a competent repair shop.
