I have already purchased the new fuel pump!!!! steve01832 Veteran Apr 18, 2007, 2:53 AM Post #2 of 3 (2849 views) Re: 2002 Chevy Cavalier Sign In Basically it is a matter of getting the fuel filler neck, fuel lines, and tank straps out of the way. Make sure you have a transmission jack or a floor jack and a block of wood to support the tank as you drop it. You will also need the jack to reinstall the tank. The only other obstruction you may encounter is you may have to compress the rear suspension to meneuver the tank to get it to drop. This is if you are not using a lift, only jackstands. Basically, it is a matter of looking at it closely before you start to get your gameplan of what you will need to do. Make sure that you have a new ring gasket for reassembly. If you have any small air leaks you will have to do the job again because the PCM does a pressure test on the system. Any small leaks will cause the test to fail and the MIL will kick on. This is why it is important to thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces and use a new ring seal when you put it back together.
