But the front axle is probably not locking in. I think the full size trucks use an electric motor in the axle for this. Check for power when t-case is shifted in. fordtech User Feb 12, 2010, 8:20 PM Post #3 of 3 (1594 views) Re: 2001 silverado 1500hd 4wd Sign In  if it shifts in to 4low but not 4hi it is most likely the motor on the t-case or possibly the tcase controll module or both it is not uncommon for one to take out the other .not a problem with the front axle locking in on the front diff.. can be a pain to diag. if it is shift motor on the t-case i suggest going with a new one from GM. i have ran in to problems with the aftermarket ones and have had to go through a few before getting a good one.
