Hi. I would like to thank anyone and everyone ahead of time for responding.

My car has 110,000 miles on it and This is a new problem. It has recently had a tune up,oil, air filter, gas filter, spark plugs, motor mounts changed, struts, bushings on front wheels changed. Recently it started making a whirling noise upon start up, that went away once it was warmed up. A couple of days ago the key would not turn in the ignition,so the ignition switch was changed. When i brought it home that night it started fine and then while on idle the RPMs started going very low, like 250. The cars was shaking and seemed like it wanted to shut off. I thought maybe it neded to warm up' but it did not go away after the engine was warmed. I gave it a little bit of gas, the shaking stopped and the RPMs normalized. The rest of the ride was fine.
Next morning the car started and ran fine. That afternoon the car starts fine but RPMs go down and car starts shaking again. I gave it a little gas like i did the night before. It went for about a block and then, while my foot is on the gas the RPMs start going down and the car almost came to a complete stop. I turned it off and turned it on again, and tried to drive. When I pushed on the gas the RPMs would not go up and the car did not accelerate. I continued to step on the gas, and then the car jumped forward and was fine for the rest of the drive home. Today same thing upon start up, so Im no longer driving it.

Thanks again...

Try cleaning your throttle body and Idle Air Control valve. take off your air box to gain acces. Then take an old tooth brush or a rag and some carb cleaner and open your throttle, and spray the carb cleaner inside and clean all the black carbon built up that you can.

Can you better describe this "whirling" noise you mentioned? Have you listened to it with the hood open? Any chance its a sucking noise? I'd be looking under the hood while its running for that noise. Sounds like you may have a pretty big vacuum leak.

Thank's for responding. I cant tell if it's a sucking noise I have listened to it with the hood open. I guess it's like a high whistling. I do suspect an air leak. I bought some carburator cleaner last night, to clean the throttle body and idle control valve. I've seen that you can also use the cleaner to find a leak... I'll have my extiguisher ready!

Tom, how do you know I don't know the origin of every whirling noise? I was up late and called the 900 number and the tarot cards said there was a vacuum leak in the future. So I went with it since the crystal ball was on the charger and acts pesky at low voltage. This may not be my best work but I just had a tooth yanked 6 hours ago after 6 days of only sleeping 40 minutes at a time because it was aching. Sad to say that without any pain meds it feels better to have a fresh gaping hole in my jaw than what I was having. But other than that my day sucked.

HaHa
