2001 Ford Explorer Sport-Trac

My mom owns an 01 Sport-Trac. Yesterday it died on her. She recently changed the battery. When you turn the key the clicking sound isn't there like it would be when the battery is bad.
In the past few months, both brake lights have gone out, and the turn signals no longer work either. I don't know if that is relevant to the problem or not.
Thanks to anybody who can offer advice. I'll try to answer other questions about the truck as best as I can.

Charging system needs to be tested. What voltage does it put out when idling? There could be a drain on the system and not sure what's the deal with brake lights etc - was that just bulbs?

I can't get it to turn on to test the idling voltage. I changed all the bulbs a couple months ago but none of them worked.

I haven't tried that yet, but the person driving my truck is about to bring it back.
Should I try to charge the battery?
I don't think it's a battery problem, though, since it was replaced about two months ago.

Charge the battery with a charger is best always. Even new a battery may have a problem. I suspect voltage output from alternator isn't up to par. When you get it to idle it should read mid 13s to 14s Volts and then stay about there with devices turned on - lights, blower fan + other things. If it just reads 12 running or not it isn't getting recharged by alt and just runs down. They can get partial charge help from alt and the headlight, blower test would show a sharp drop in voltage meaning it isn't keeping up,

the brake light/turn signal issue is more then likely your multifunction switch on the steering column.
not a bad DIY job
