Pulled over to chage the DVD in my daughters portable player. Noticed a strange odor, turns out was burning oil. That and white smoke comming from the engine compartment. Not thick, but alarming all the same. Engine wasnt over heat, car hood was a normal temperature. What are the chances it can be easily repaired? Check your oil level and check your coolant level. If the coolant is low, then fill it and presuure test the system to determine where it went. If it's real low on oil, find out where that went. But all the oil leaked onto the ground, i sat and watched the oil level get lower and lower on the dipstick until there was nothing left at all. It is leaking somwhere from the bottom of the engine. Your going to have to inspect it to determine where the oil is leaking from. If it's leaking without the engine running, then about the only thing it can be is a hole in the oil pan, probably from hitting something.
