2000 monte carlo rear caliper

i was wondering if anyone knows what i need to remove the top bolt from the rear caliper on the driver's side. the bottom is a 12mm socket but when you take that out the caliper swings up on the top bolt or stud. how do i remove it to replace the whole caliper? thanks

Sound like that is just a shaft/post/stud as you called it and when swung up should slide out,
