2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt

My car does not seem to idle right and just started to die at lights and when slowing up. The thermostat seems to be getting pretty hot also. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it. It starts right up after it dies. Thank you

I would address the 'running hot' issue first...If the cooling system is low, the coolant temp sensor may not be in contact with the coolant, possibly causing the fuel system to go rich. There are many possibilites can cause an idle quality problem.
