As stated in the subject line, my car is a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 (coupe). Some time ago my window in the drivers side started acting up, in that I mean it would stop working. It was never in a certain position that it stopped and after a while I figured out that if I hit the door it would start again; this leads me to believe it is a short somewhere. However, I pulled the door panel off and played with the wires a bit. I was able to make it work after tapping in the motor very lightly. While it was working I moved all the wires around trying to see if there was a short; I figured if there was once I moved that wire it would stop or at least interrupt the operation; nothing happened. The only thing that seems to work is tapping the motor. Also, whenever there is any sort of friction applied to the window, such as when the door is shut and rube the rubber seal on the window track, the motor either labors or just quits working all together. Some times it will go up and down just fine, but any time it goes all the way to the bottom of the track it always stops working. As of today it seems to have quite all together, however history with this motor has shown that it can be intermittent. To me it seems obvious that the motor needs to be replaced, my problem is that this seems a bit complicated as there are several bolts; some that seem to hold on the track, pulleys, and motor while others hold what seems to be a metal panel of sorts that all of that connects to. I do not want to start pulling stuff apart and not be able to put it back together again. If anyone has a diagram for how to go about this, or has any advice please let me know. Thank you.

You can try going to Auto Zones website and under repair look for repair manuals for your vehicle; they give a lot of info. Joel

Seems to be available with or without the regulator - limited info for this but pics of the parts found at above which is Advance Auto and appears to be fairly straight forward by the style of it to replace depending on your tools and skills. If you are good with motors you could take it apart and clean the brush contacts and it would probably work again with no problem,
