how would i go about fixing a leak between the transmission and the engine

What kind of leak?? Coolant, oil or transmission fluid? If oil or coolant, it can possibly(not likely) be coming from the top of engine. You need to determine where the leak is coming from. Odds are you will need to pull the transmission. Hope you get lucky and it is intake or valve covers.
