2000 Windstar Sign In

I'm not too good at this fix it yourself stuff..... I am working on installing a altenator on a 2000 windstar.......got it out but, the idler pully set up has me stumped, there must be a trick to it.......any suggestions or diagrams I could use?

That's the belt routing for the 3.8 with A/C. You need to retract the tensioner pulley to get the belt back on. If you can't fake it with assorted tools these is a set that makes those easier,

Ps: Which engine? I can look up what it takes to retract the tensioner. How did you get it off anyway?

I can see why you are confused if like that one. You probably can just put a box wrench on the pulley's hex bolt and double up combination wrenches for distance leverage to retract. DON'T LEAVE THAT BOLT LOOSENED AT ALL! There probably is a square spot to grab which will retract it not clear in this photo but may be the top right tab,

Got it fixed......the big problem was its location, had to remove from underneath. thanks for the help.
