2000 S10 Blazer Transfer case

I have a 2000 S10 4x4 Blazer NVG 236/246 NP-8 transfer case that will not shift into 4wd . I can hear the t-case motor run when I push the switch . The light on the switch will blink on and off until I push the 2wd switch . Any idea on what is going on? Is there a way to manually set it to auto 4wd for the winter?

Even though you have a push button switch on the dash for 4X4, I think? There still maybe a vacuum motor that switches the front axles from lock to unlock. The problem may be there and we need a lot more information from you to be able to help.
Because it maybe an electronic or a mechanical problem.
