Hey there,
Not sure if this is the right forum if not sorry!
3 days ago I went to Mr.Lube to get an oil change and during that oil change they also recommended we get our coolant flushed since it was never done before.
All seemed fine and dandy until we left. Less than 50 meters away from the place we started hearing a loud ticking noise. Every time we pressed the gas the ticking would become very loud and soon as we took our foot off the gas the ticking wouldn't appear.
We went immediately back to the store and he said it's your lifters. Not enough oil is getting to them. I was like we NEVER had this problem before and now all of a sudden it appears after an oil change / coolant change? Does that sound normal to you? They ended up giving us another oil change for free and put in high milage oil in it. It seemed to work....at least temporarily.
However yesterday morning the ticking came back and it was even louder than before and now my engine light has come on.
So now I'm not exactly sure what to do or what is wrong with the car. I mean the car was 100% fine before going into them and all I went there for was the oil change. They dumped lots of water on the engine during the coolant change so not sure if that could of caused it.
Any how any help would be very much apperciated!

This spot is fine for this. Sure sounds like something went wrong with just a 50 meter drive! Check you oil level yourself now and bring up your tale of woe again at that place. Monitor gauges like a hawk and don't drive it if they are in warning areas. Get right on this to avoid any possible further problems. We weren't there so it's impossible to pass judgment.
It wouldn't be the first time a car left and oil wasn't refilled or something like that. They changed it again right away by your report and it seemed to solve the problem for a while which is interesting.
In any oil drain and fill with filter change there is a few seconds that oil pressure is not up to norm while it adjusts and that can be heard and sounds like what you described but that goes away in literally seconds.
Suggest you document your visit and find your history of routine car care service items which hopefully you have kept.
Speak to the manager of the establishment. There is a possibility of some long term damage now - again I just can't know that from here,

Well the dude insisted that their wasn't enough oil getting to the Lifters.
Like when we start up the car, no noise at all, and as we start putting some gas into her, after like 10 minutes it comes back.
If indeed not enough oil is getting to the lifters, how would we fix that?

Oh and for the record the oil was spot on, nothing wrong with pressure or anything like that. No oil light or anything came on either.
Just an engine light this morning.

If your comfortable driving the car get a code reading for the engine light. Something is stored there.
Hey - this could just be a bad luck thing. I'm curious why the engine needed to be what you called washed down or rinses with water which isn't generaly a great idea IMO. There may have been some mess to clean up - who knows now?
It does sound like low oil pressure which is not being indicated by your gauge anyway. That could be lack of oil which is ruled out by you now, or the pump up and had a problem. If this engine was sludged up or history of hap hazzard oil changes it could have thrown sludge at the oil pick up screen - it's just not known right now.
Will you seek a diagnostic opinion from another place as to what may have caused this? It may be an exhaust leak from something that cracked when perhaps a hot engine got doused with water - can't say at all - it's tough at this end to do more than guesses without being there.
Just know that lack of lubrication for any reason is an engine killer and can be real quick to do so. Again can't say but you have to decide whether to continue using the car or not at the risk of making this worse.
It's still very interesting that a change in oil type right away made an immediate difference if only for a day??

Yeah I think we are going to have to get it tested I guess.
They cost about 100 dollars but I mean it really sucks that an oil change would do this....is it even possible to hold them accountable since there was no problem before hand?

This isn't the place to settle who's responsible for what if anyone is. A second opinion hands on could suggest what happened and really is needed. Ask the manager of the place how they would like to address this issue.
There certainly are cases where something was done wrong, neglected by a shop and there's also people who want a pre-existing problem tossed back at the last person to touch the vehicle.
How many miles are on this car and what is the care history? That will count and so will just inquiring from the shop's management about what they can do about this. Sounds like a chain place for quick service and they probably have dealt with this a few times before,

hi there...
i've had a couple mustang gt's... and they've all had this problem... i've just noticed that you cannot put anything thicker than the 20 wt oil... i know it sounds crazy, but i have 169600 miles on my 01 mustang gt and she runs great !!! i've had 'er since 4 miles old and she does not like anything heavier than the original 20 wt... i also have an aviator, 05, and same problem, nothing heavier than 20 wt is tollerated....
