My Kia sephia is having a lot of trouble accelerating and shifting up. My belts broke two weeks ago and I had a leak in my power steering hose. I got all of that replaced and the air filter changed. Now whenever I try to accelerate it doesn't have anywhere near the power it should and it feels like it takes way too long to shift up, you can hear the rpm's roaring. I got my transmission fluid flushed, thinking it would help, but that didn't work. Any ideas what it could be? eak in my power steering hose. I got all of that replaced and the air filter changed. Other thread deleted What belt did you have a problem with? Was it the timing belt? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It wasn't the timing belt. It was the two S belts that connect the engine, battery, water pump, etc.

Then you probably need to check your timing belt. It sounds like it may have jumped a tooth. The other belts could have contributed to that.

I'm worried that it might be my transmission. Is it more likely that it's my timing belt or my transmission going out?

After rereading your symptoms, you could be right. I was concentrating on the loss of power but if the RPMs are running away without any response, that could be a transmission issue. First thing to do is check the fluid level for the trans. The belts could have damaged a cooler line or something and triggered a leak.
