I have a 2000 Ford Taurus 3.0 Liter Flex Fuel engine that I has a recurring problem. Car has a slight miss while idling for a while, then I get a check engine light. check the codes and comes up cylinder 1 misfire. Pull plug on cylinder 1 looks fine, replaced plug any way. Misfire seems to go away or decrease. Misfire and check engine light comes back in aprroximately 6 months. Latest round we replaced plug, checked wires (ok), checked and replaced fuel filter, replaced PCV valve, checked the ignition coil (fine). Now the car stalls when it is warm and coming to slow desceleration. Does anyone know of something else that can be checked or if there is a problem with model of flex fuel engines?

Check the IAC (idle air control) valve. This is what controls the idle speed on your vehicle. This may be why it is dying at idle. As far as the recurring miss, what fuel are you using? Are you using gasoline, E85 Ethanol or a lower blend of Ethanol. We had some flex fuel Taurus' and had lots of problems running the E85. If we cut the mixture to around 50% or under, the vehicles ran fine. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
