Hello,Just reaching out for some HELP, I have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS ,had it since it was new, when I start to drive it forward I hear a winding type sound which gets louder as i go faster, Not sure what it is , when the car is sitting in park and i race the engine i don't hear anything ,when it idles the engine is quiet,I thought it might be the serpentine belt but when i race the engine in park i do not hear it, only when i start to drive, could it be something with the transmission ? Please advise Jack

You should have someone with a trained ear listen to it. It's pretty difficult to identify noises from description only. You could be looking at a bad wheel bearing too. Try swerving from left to right and see if the noise noticeably changes. That would indicate a likely bearing problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
