2000 Blazer - Will not start cold Sign In

I recently purchased a 2000 Blazer so I do not know much of its background. The vehicle runs well but refuses to start in the morning. Eventually it will and I am not sure why. Once started, it runs fine. It also seems to start rough or shutter excessively from time to time. Please give me any ideas of what I can look. Thanks

Check the fuel pressure while trying to start it in the morning. This engine is very touchy about pressure and if it drops below 55PSI, it won't start cold.

Re: 2000 Blazer - Will not start cold Sign In

Here is a bit more info. Some may not be relevant but I will let you decide.. The gauge does not work. Sometimes it reads completely full then goes to below empty. I tried to fill the tank at the gas station but it overflows with about 1 1/2 gallons added. I can add gas to the throttle body and it fires and runs till that amount of gas is used up. I put about 2 gallons of fuel in the tank and it would not fire. Again I added fuel directly to the throttle body and it fired until the fuel was exhausted. Does this indicate bad fuel pump? Does it have a fuel pump relay I should check? Fuel filter problem? Where should I start without having to drop the tank?

No one has suggested dropping tank- you diagnose first then repair.

scan for codes- even if the CEL is off.

As suggested - CHECK fuel pressure-

Re: 2000 Blazer - Will not start cold Sign In

Connect a fuel pressure gauge up to the test port on the fuel injector feed pipe and see what fuel pressure is when it doesn't want to start as the others stated.

The fuel gauge may not work correctly because you have a wiring issue, faulty sender, or gauge problem.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

to clarify the VEHICLE fuel gauge may not work due to a wiring issue.
The fuel pressure gauge you will attach will operate correctly...
