1999 mazda 626 brake lights won't work

1999 mazda 626 brake lights won't work Sign In

1999 mazda 626 es 2.0 4 cyl. when i turn my lights on the tail lights light up, but when i press the brake pedal they don't get brighter, so never looks like i'm pressing on brake pedal. tested the brake light switch. any help much appreciated

What about when the lights aren't on and you step on the brake. Do you have brake lights them?
What about the 3rd (high mount) brake light? Does that one work?

Nope still no brake lights when lights are off, and the high mount doesn't light either. i also replaced all bulbs.

Then you need to go to the brake light switch and test for power coming in all the time and out when the brake is applied.

Maybe a fues?
Look around in the fues block(s) and see if any of them say brake light or something like that.
Maybe a break in the wiring going to them.
They could all be running off the same ground wire too and theres a bad ground.
