The old banger has just conked out! Help would be appreciated. Clutch pedal felt tight for a few days, went in gear no probs then wouldn't engage any others at first junction. Now won't go in gear at all, makes a sort of clicking sound when revving. Grateful for any advice.

themor; Is this a hydraulically assisted clutch? If you try to start the car in gear, with the clutch pedal depressed, does it try to move? Or, can you put it in any gear, let off the clutch, and 'nothing' happens? From what you posted, it sounds like a hydraulic problem, but with the noise associated with it, could have broken a pressure plate or clutch disc. Loren SW Washington

It is a hydraulical assisted clutch. The car will start in gear but makes a terrible noise but will move in first.

That doesn't sound good. Sounds like time to pull the transmisson for a look. Sorry. Loren SW Washington
