1999 Mercury cougar 2.0 Stalling out on idle

Hello, I have a 1999 mercury cougar with a 2.0. Recently i was having some problems with the car miss fireing. I replaced the spark plugs and after i did the car ran like new. However, when i start it now, there is no idle it just stalls out. It might idle for a second but will not hold for long. I can start the car in nuetral and throw it in drive and it runs fine, but when i come to a stop it will either stall or idle up and down real rough like. I had a couple things in mind that it might be such as the idle control motor or the iac. If it makes a difference i just changed the starter. But i dont think that would cause this in any way. Thank you for any help.

I'm expecting that you either damaged or left off one of the vacuum lines. Is the check engine light coming on at all? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I though that too, but i checked all the lines. I dont notice and leaks.. And the engine light is on, i had that looked at and it was the O2 sensor. For the downstream.

You had that looked at since this problem or before? If before, it needs to be looked at again. I need the exact code numbers of any codes stored.
