Was driving car, everything was fine, when I stopped & parked the shifter handle wouldn't go past reverse & into park. Haven't had any prior problems. It just feels blocked. I've had to put in neutral & use brake to turn off car & lock it because I can't get keys out unless its in park. Auto mechanic has had it 4 days & hasn't figured it out. Says still running diagonisticsHelp 1999 Honda Crv Automatic transmission 124,000 mi. Thanks

Arg! If the shop has it and can't figure it out then ask them who does in the area. Right now I have no suggestions. Hope you have a spare key so you can use the car if it works fine otherwise and be sure parking brake works well until diagnosed. Trans shops may be the answer or dealer if you have to and one available. Good luck - lousy week to get things done like that, T

Sounds like a shift cable has stretched or needing an adjustment imho.

4 days seems like a bit long for this type of problem. Can he at least tell which area the problem is in? The shifter or the trans? I'm guessing it's not a simple as a quarter falling into the console & jamming the linkage. If you can't get a good answer & time frame by tomorrow, might not be a bad idea to have a "fresh set of eyes" take a look at it....
