1998 ford windstar---overdrive light blinking--- Sign In

hellow people, for the last couple of days when driving the overdrive light blinks no stop. pushing the button does nothing. until the van is shut off. then after starting its off and i can push the button and it stays lit without blinking. went to auto zone and had engine codes read and nothing seemed to pertain to the transmission. decided to do trans fluid and filter change because of the light blinking. this seems to have stopped the light from blinking but when shifting into overdrive the rpm needle seems to be slowly slipping into the shift. what do you think?

For right now, double check that the fluid if properly full. What did the old fluid look like? The change making the light straighten out is encouraging but the slipping isn'tMad

If the OD light was blinking, there should have been a code stored in the PCM. Have codes read again and look ror a P07xx series codes.

p1000= monitor testing incomplete.
po734= incorrect gear ratio, trans slipping.
po301= cylinder #1 misfire.
p1131 & p1132= 02 sensor bank 1.
po133= 02 sensor air fuel ratio is not being adjusted by the 02 sensor or the computer.
p1537 & p1538 = intake manifold runner control stuck open.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgikQ8s6Va0 From what I understand this affects the 02 sensors...check this clip out...it might aid in your problem.
