98 Pontiac Sunfire; 120k miles; I have owned it only 5 months. Last month, I noticed that my battery light came on and went off. I thought the alternator belt was just alittle loose, but an adjustment did not resolve it. Then the airbag light started to join the battery light. Coincidentally, I noticed the 4-speed automatic transmission started to shift very hard after my 15 mile drive to work. I tried to check the transmission fluid level--no dip stick! Apparently the 4-speed transmission does not need periodic flush and new filter? Then I realized that the hard shifting coincided with the battery and airbag lights, and the headlights dim at this time, too. Does any one have any ideas of what could be causing this? So far, the lights resolve themselves in 5-10 seconds; tranny returns to normal sometimes in the same trip--always on next trip. But it is spooky. Weird that these things seem to be connected.
