The door handle on my 1998 GMC Sierra is broken. I have taken the panel off the door, but can't seem to get the handle assemble loose. It seems as if it is attached to the door frame with a rivett. Does anyone know how to remove the assembly without drilling out a rivett? It seems as if it should be easier than that.

No, I'm afraid not. The rivet has to be drilled. This is not uncommon at all. most of the window regulators are held in the same way. You will need some large rivets and a rivet gun to re-install it too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It''s really not a big deal. Drive out the center rod first and then use about a 1/2" drill. It's aluminum and will drill out in seconds.
