Two things to test/check. Trans fluid full and if the car can be moved when in park is perhaps a stripped out a driveshaft but needing a trans job more likely, T

Will the vehicle move in park if you push it? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The idea of pushing it in park mentioned twice means put it in park without parking brake and will the car still move if pushed or not. It's not whether the car moves with it running - we know that. You hear or heard that noise so it's either stripped out a splined something or trans had a physical failure itself which would generally mean a transmission overhaul, T
