the radio quits in my 1997 taurus when it is placed in drive. Works fine otherwise. Does someone know the answer?

You need to replace the transmission range/ neutral safety switch. It is located on top of the transaxle just below the master cylinder. Here is a diagram of it. When you install, make sure the car is in neutral. There is 2 little lines that need to line up. Then tighten the n=mounting bolts. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
