my monte runs great untill i put fuel in the tank ,then when i try to start it ,it will stall 2 or 3 times then start up.
except last night when i fueled up it started ..i put it in gear then it stalled and would not start again..last year it did the same thing then after a day of sitting it fired right up..any ideas would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

I'd toss the fuel filter now to rule that out and if not solved get a code reading and fuel pressure test,

Thanks Tom

I dont know yet if the filter is plugged as the tow truck hasnt picked it up yet, but i did try the valve on the fuel rail and theres no fuel there,..it sprayed very little at first but after a second or two of cranking the motor there was no fuel

thanks again in advance

Also sounds like rthe fuel pump may be going out. Possibly fuse or relay also.

Re: 1997 montecarlo z34 Sign In

just an update

i removed the fuel filter then turned the key on and fuel poured out of the fuel line and the inside of the filter looked really dirty so i put on a new filter and the car started right up and idoled fine but when i reved the engine up in park it sounded like i had a rev limiter on the car at 4000 rpm but i took it for4 a drive and it drove the best it ever had ..i drove for about 30 kms then i shut it off and when i went to leave from where i was it started but barely idoled so i removed the filter again and tryed cranking the car over and now no fuel again ...cpold it be the fuel pump is going or do you think it might be a relay and how can i test the relay

Just from this segment of the thread: Dirty fuel filter found and new one solved the problem right away for 30km and seems to not flow fuel again. If you hear the fuel pump running at all with these observations I'd blame more dirt and a flush out of tank and lines would be needed. Drain that fuel filter into a glass container and see what comes out of it. If nasty already there more problems with the fuel than it can handle.

BTW - don't be reving engine up to 4,000! That with no load could blow the engine friend!
