1997 gmc sierra 5.7 need advise

I replaced fuel filter ,fuel pump but truck wont start there is fuel but fuel does not get engine because I poured fuel where the carb is and it started up right away as soon as fuel that I poured in ran out it died and it did not start again, how many fuel filters does it have and what could be the problem need some help please thank u

Just one fuel filter that I know of. Can you hear fuel pump at all and is power even getting to it?

Have you checked fuel pressure? If pressure is OK, have you checked all fuses?
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

yes I can hear I also disconnected fuel line after fuel filter and I opened the switch and it sprayed fuel out so I dont know if it isclogged somewhere after the fuel filter because it is not getting any fuel to injectors

there is new fuel pump and I did checked fuses and are ok what else could it be

Rec'd the PM - best to keep discussion here. Check that fuel pressure at the rail and bleed some air out there if any now. As said I own exact engine, year in a Chev truck. No matter - have had reports of wiring problems with fuel pump and gauge. Make sure that's clean and if it was corroded try to improve it - WD-40 and just make sure it's looking good and feeling tight.
I mentioned reset by battery disconnect as a wild card stab - don't know but should bother anything to try that.
New or not fuel pressure might be off. Trying to recall but don't have a chart - pressure should be 46-55psi - guess??
Some won't behave a pound low.
What was your diagnosis and how with this replacement in the first place?

Did you check the fuses with a test light,(both sides of fuse) or just look at them? Sometimes looks can be decieving.

replaced fuel regulator but still the same what pressure should it have , it was tested for fuel pressure and it read 60psi they told me it should be at 90psi not sure if thats right what other suggestions can you provide me with kind of getting disapointed now thank you hope to hear from you soon

Fuel Pressure
Central SFI 60-66 psi
SFI 56-62 psi
Just wondering. Have you checked the fuses? If you have fuel pressure to injectors, and you have spark and you have compression, the injectors are not opening. The ECM controls the injectors. The ECM A and ECM B fuses control the injector pulse. You stated that they are good. You never stated if you properly tested them. Just curious because sometimes we all overlook the minor things. Replaced an entire A/C system once because I overlooked the cooling fan relay being bad.

checked fuses with tester and all are ok, pressure ok at 60psi, replaced fuel pressure regulator and still does the same thing, will only start with a little of fuel poured in what look like carb but will not start without fuel poured fuel, dont know what else could it be need more suggestion if you can help would really appreciate it, hope to hear from someone soon thank you for your input Way2Old.

The one thing I have not seen any one ask you is the one thing most people miss..
Get in the truck, shut the door, insert the key into the ignition, and turn to run.
what does the security light now do?? DOes it flash? Does it stay on solid? or does it go out. The VTD or vehicle theft system on this vehicle will go into fuel disable, thus the vehicle cranks and the vehicle will start with fuel sprayed dircectly into the throttle body, but will not allow the injectors to pulse, as the PCM sees the fuel disable command from the VTD module.
Get ahold of a scan tool and check for DTC's--you could have an open security fuse, or an issue with the VTD module or the passlock sensor. a bad seed in the key, or an issue integral to the IPC cluster.
The fact that you have a new pump, you have 60 psi at the rail, and the vehicle starts with fuel sprayed into the throttle body all sounds like a control issue, and the first issue of control is permission to operate via data from the VTD to the PCM, a scan tool, is going to be your best bet at this point, you need not only to know is there are any DTC's but you need to get data from the controls, in other words, does the VTD system have fuel enabled or disabled, are the injectors being commanded on... etc...
If you do not seek out a scan tool or take this into a technican whom you feel comfortable with, you will continue to throw parts at this vehicle.
