It's a 4 cylinder, 2 wheel drive, and has never had a problem until about 2 weeks ago. It's so squeaky it sounds like the trunk is going to fall off the rest of the car. Every turn and every bump it is extremely squeaky and noisy back there. Kind of sounds like it's coming from just above one of the rear tires? Thanks!

Probably a rear strut or strut mount. You would have to hoist such that it can be jounced up and down (safely with the right know how or lift) to isolate unless more obvious for the source of the noise, T

Thanks for the info Tom! I have no car knowledge, so I'm wondering what something like this would cost to fix at a mechanic?

">I have no car knowledge<" Not a problem or shouldn't be. It's not a repair for many DIYers anyway. I can't know what is making the noise so couldn't say how much but there shouldn't be a problem in getting a quote. I suggest just pointing out your observations and let the shop make the diagnosis and suggested fix. If they in fact find stuts or bushings at fault I do suggest allowing them to be done in pairs, and a suggested alignment job after it's done. Again, if a strut job with the bushing plate I'd expect about $400 plus cost of an alignment. Labor rates vary a lot and they should be able to tell you with a quote, T

To add... Had a few of these that made a loud creaking/clicking noise . It is/was coming from the rear stabilizer links. They rust and won't pivot and make the noise.. Had a broke friend that had the problem and instead of replacing them since she couldnt afford it,took some spray white lube with a plastic nozzle attached and inserted it into the boot area and gave it a spray and worked them back and forth to free them up ..
