Search Auto Parts Search 1996 Cougar rear case bushings Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Car Troubleshooting sstout351 New User Apr 11, 2009, 9:03 AM Post #1 of 6 (1968 views) 1996 Cougar rear case bushings Sign In i have a 1996 cougar and i am looking for a replacement bushing set for the rear diff case. it has the 4.6liter engine and aode trans. i do know that the 2003 mustang cobra came with an independant rear susp. and was wondering if i can use aftermarket or OE bushings from that? Ford does not make the bushing anymore and none of the local parts suppliers carry or can get them. any help i can get in this matter will be good. its getting to the point that when i apply throttle the rear diff slaps the underside of the car. The "Cougar" thing is screwing up the parts look up for me too. If it looks like the layout of a Mustang GT for instance then it probably is. If it doesn't link to www.moddedmustangs.com and call the thing a Mustang - there was tons of stuff there. ~~~~~~~~~~~ It's off the exact topic but Cougar (Mercury) has been whatever they felt like over the decades now!? I owned a 79 XR7 that was near identical to T-Bird of that era and those were both what Ford called LTDII also and prior to that Torino??
