1996 Blazer engine lift point's

We have a 1996, Chevy Blazer, 4X4, 4.3, 150K miles. Have a broken oil pan & are in the process of replacing it. Engine is ready to be lifted, but we can't find the lifting point for the passenger side of the engine. The drivers side is on the front of the engine. We have searched the rear passenger side for the same but can't find anything to hook the chain to. Can you give us rookies some guidance? Thanks.

If there isn't a hook in the left rear, then just use one of the manifold bolts in the same area. Just look for something where the chain won't press against anything and break it. It's really not that critical at all. You could even go lower to the exhaust manifold bolts if it worked better for you.

On the occasion, I’ve had to use the corner intake or exhaust manifold bolt location; for a lifting point.
If that’s the case here; I would also find a grade 8 or higher strength bolt of the proper length; so that the bolt could be installed with the most amount of threads allowable into the cylinder head and still have the chain or lifting cable tight to the manifold.
Once the engine has been lifted to the proper height; I would use wedges or spacers between the engine’s mounts and cross member and then lower the engine onto them. Never trust the engine hoist, jack, chain falls whatever you’re using to hold the engine while you’re working underneath.
Fingers, hands and arms; will become a bit squishy; if the engine would happen to drop on them.
