bought a 1995 pontiac grand am. it had set for about 6-8 months. we put fuel in it twice. the car would not start after we put gas in it the second time. it tried to start it made like a chugging sound when trying to run. it would die. did that 4-5 time than all it would do is turn over. let it set all night and most of next day. it started. made it home and wont start again.

You need to remove the gas in the tank . it's about 20 percent varnish by now. change the oil and filter. If you get it running again with good gas let it idle an hour .
Never race an engine at high speed that has been unused for some time. Change it again if it is black. also change the trans filter and fluid two or three times before you try to drive it regularly.
