1995 Saturn question

1995 Saturn question Sign In

I have replaced the motor in this vehicle and it contiues to run hot. new water pomp thermostat. its still running hot and starting to piss me off. it takes a hour to for the heat to come on. and the battery keeps dieing? i'll go out and get ready to leave and i'll have to jump it off. I was told that everything that could cause this is good on the car you name it they say it good. I've even took the battery back and let them change it for me can anybody help me?

Battery Keeps dying - Alternator buddy. You can either replace it, or get it checked for a minor problem (regulator, rectifier, stator)

As for running hot - I am no mechanic, but is the radiator running ok?

I was told the Alternator was ok.

If the battery keeps dying, there is a charge problem. Its very very rare for you to get 2 bad batteries in a row. Could be a crappy B & S cable, or bad connection to Alt, or battery posts are corroded or even battery terminals. Check the ones you can, but the B & S Cable, should be continuity tested with a multi meter. We'll find out the problem matey. Wink

CHECK OR REPLACE THE TEMPERTURE SENSOR. MINE WENT BAD ON MY 99 SATURN AFTER REPLACING THE HEAD. MY GAUGE WOULD WORK BUT THE SENSOR WAS GIVING BAD SIGNALS. KEPT RUNNING COOL. PUT A VOLTMETER ACROSS THE BATTERY WHEN IT IS RUNNING. YOU SHOULD GET LIKE 13 OR 14 VOLTS. IF YOU ARE THE ALTERNATOR IS GOOD. PUT AN AMP METER ACROSS YOUR BATTERY POST AND NEGATIVE CLAMP (ENGINE OFF, IGNITION OFF). ARE YOU GETTING A AMP DRAW? PULL FUSES UNTIL THE AMP DRAW IS ZERO. THIS WILL ISOLATE THE COMPONET THAT IS SHORTING. DON'T FORGET YOUR CLOCK WILL DRAW AMPS. YOU MIGHT HAVE A PINCHED WIRE SINCE YOU REPACED THE MOTOR.
