Today when I went to start my 1995 Ranger it wouldn't start. It doesn't even turn over it just clicks once and then doesn't do anything. I tested my battery and that is fine, all the lights, radio, etc works just fine. Any ideas on how to get this going? I think I am going to have to call someone to come out and fix/tow it, who would I ave to call?

Have someone turn the key to the start position and take a hammer and tap the starter to see if it will start. Don't beat the starter, just tap it. If it starts, replace starter.

To add: The hammer trick when starters do that can frequently make the connection improve for another start where the brushes contact to shaft in the starter. See the lighter metal rectangle boxes above have spring loaded carbon pile (brushes) touching the copper contacts on the armature/shaft. They can glaze and discolor like shown and don't get enough contact to turn the motor. As way2old said if the trick works it's practical to replace the starter as finding parts to fix this and the fussyness of many isn't always worth it,
