Year of vehicle : 1995
Make of vehicle : Infiniti (Nissan)
Model of vehicle : G20
Engine size : 2.0
Mileage/Kilometers : 170 K miles

1995 Infiniti G20: Is 195/65R14 the only tire size for this model? I am curious if I can buy a more common tire size like 195/60R14 instead of the OEM recommended 195/65R14 tire size?

Thanks,
Sid

The second size you mentioned is a bit shorter and wider than the OE suggested size. A lot goes into what exact size is best for a vehicle so I'd ask where you intend on buying tires for their thoughts too on the specific brand you want. The exact stance can vary a bit brand by brand.

What you lose going to a shorter and wider tire is some buffer zone in the distance to pinch the tire on the rim hitting a hole and wider IMO has less traction on wet or slippery surfaces.

When not listed as an optional choice size it's generally not recommended to change,

Thanks for your insightful comments. I have felt frustrated because so often the tires I see on sale are not the ones recommended for my car and was just wondering if I could get by...

Basically YES - I think these will work if the tire shop agrees seeing your car and the rim. The slight width would matter if the rim wasn't wide enough but this should be a small difference. There's no bargain if they don't fit properly and drive safely. Make certain they don't rub when turned at full extremes if you go for it. I really do suggest all four being the same! That's more important!

Good luck,

T
