1994 GMC Suburban 5.7L 4WD I have recently bought a Suburban and have fixed alot of the issues it has had. At this point, it is still smoking at start up, but stops when the vehicle is in motion and moving. Also when I go to start it up, i have to hold the accelerator down and i have to rev it for a few minutes in order for it to be able to drive. sometimes, it will start, but then it dies as soon as i let off the gas. we have replaced the oil pan gasket and the intake manifold gasket, but the truck keeps smoking but only during the initial start up and while it is being revved up, but the smoke goes away as soon as it starts being driven. it drives very good, but it does those issues only when it is turned off then started again. so my question is what can or is the cause of this?

One common problem on those is the valve guide seals get hard with age and the engine burns oil on start up and if it accelerates after it has been idling for a while. Have you checked compression? Leak down test would tell you if you have ring problems. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
